Look for a line that says "Confirmation number:" followed by a number (e.g. 123456789). Use only the number — ignore any letters or words after it, as these relate to frequent renter club membership and are not part of the confirmation number.
Can I check in online if I didn't enter my frequent renter number at booking?: Yes — you can still complete online check-in without a loyalty number. However, if you want your loyalty preferences pre-applied automatically in future, enter your frequent renter number at the time of booking through CarRentalSavers.com. It cannot be added to a booking after it has been confirmed.
Is online check-in available at all locations?: Not always. Hertz online check-in and counter-skip is specifically limited to select airport locations. The other seven agencies (Avis, Budget, Dollar, Easirent, Economy, Sixt, and Thrifty) offer broader availability, but expedited counter-skip options may still vary by location. Check the specific agency's check-in page for location-level availability.
Does online check-in mean I can skip the counter completely?: At some locations and with some loyalty programs yes — particularly Hertz Gold Plus at select airports and Avis Preferred at participating locations. At others, online check-in pre-populates your details to speed up the counter visit rather than eliminate it entirely.
